Highlights 2019
Among the highlights of this 2019 edition we have: evenings with stars like the pianists Yuja Wang (in Rachmaninov’s Third with the Staatskapelle Dresden) and Khatia Buniatishvili, singers Nuria Rial and Cecilia Bartoli, violonists Vilde Frang and Hilary Hahn, cellists Sol Gabetta and Gautier Capuçon; the opera «Carmen» in concert version with the Zurich Opera Orchestra and Marco Armiliato; Charpentier’s Te Deum with Hervé Niquet and his Concert Spirituel; the residence of pianist Bertrand Chamayou; symphonic evenings in the festival tent Gstaad, with Beethoven’s Emperor and Seong-Jin Cho on the piano, and Tchaikovsky’s «Pathétique» conducted by Manfred Honeck, Ravel’s «La Valse» and Stravinsky’s «Petrouchka» with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and Lahav Shani, Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique conducted by Mikko Franck, Wagner opera arias sung by tenor Klaus Florian Vogt and Ravel’s «Bolero» with the Lyon National Orchestra and Gergely Madaras, Tchaikovsky’s Fourth by the Staatskapelle Dresden and Myung-Whun Chung; and unusual musical moments such as Gabriela Montero’s improvisations on Chaplin’s silent film «The Immigrant», the encounter between the Janoska Ensemble and jazz guitarist Biréli Lagrène as a homage to Django Reinhardt, Ute Lemper’s cabaret and song evening.
