Beethoven delayed
15 July – 3 September 2022

Unfortunately, Hélène Grimaud will not be able to travel to Gstaad this summer due to a much-delayed renewal procedure of her residence permit in the USA due to the Covid pandemic, which has caused exit and entry problems. While her recital on 10 August had to be cancelled, her eagerly awaited performance on 8 August in the Gstaad Festival Tent with the Basel Chamber Orchestra and Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor K. 466 will be replaced by Jan Lisiecki, who has agreed at short notice to step in as soloist for the work. Despite his young age, the Deutsche Grammophon exclusive artist is anything but an unknown: In the ten years of his contract so far (he signed the exclusive contract at the age of fifteen!), Jan Lisiecki has recorded eight top-class albums and received almost as many awards from the prestigious Grammophone Magazine. His two most recent recordings (Beethoven's complete piano concertos with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and Beethoven songs with Matthias Goerne) testify to an extraordinary level of inspiration. Would you like to find out more about the concert on 8 August? Listen to Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20, immortalised in 2012 with Christian Zacharias and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
