«Westwards» – Movies meet Music

Named «Westwards», this double recital is a great pianist-composer of turn-of-the-century Russia – Sergei Rachmaninov – who had to seek salvation in the West on the aftermath of the Revolution of 1917. Gabriela Montero’s option to improvise on a Charlie Chaplin silent film – an art in which the Venezuelan pianist excels – is also part of this tribute: did Hollywood not provide salutary opportunities to many an emigrant?
